Hawai’i Island police have charged 27-year-old Adam Kahekili Kepoo of Honoka’a with various offenses stemming from a domestic incident on April 23. While conducting patrols at Kawaihae Boat Harbor in South Kohala, officers observed two occupants of a vehicle containing both adults, one female (driver), and male passenger. When approached, adult female driver reported an altercation involving them both and reported domestic allegations with him being made against her by male passenger (driver).
Early Life and Education
Adam Kahekili Kepoo, 27, from Honokaa has been sentenced to 10 years without parole after facing seven felony charges, such as abuse and kidnapping. Following an Oct 24 hearing before the Hawaii Paroling Authority, this minimum prison term was established.
Detectives with Area II Juvenile Aid Section determined that Kepoo and a victim were involved in several domestic incidents throughout Hamakua and South Kohala districts. After consulting with prosecutors, detectives charged Kepoo with 26 offenses: 12 counts of abuse of family household member; three assault in the second degree charges; two terroristic threats in the first degree charges; one attempted felony abuse count; kidnapping; kidnap attempts and four fourth-degree theft charges, in addition to an open container violation and an unauthorized possession of confidential information.

South Kohala officers noticed two occupants inside one such vehicle when conducting patrols at Kawaihae Boat Harbor; when speaking with their adult female driver she mentioned she had been involved in an altercation with Kepoo who she identified as her passenger in which she stated she had become physically violent towards her fellow passenger and vice versa.
Detectives with Area II Juvenile Aid Section determined that Kepoo was involved in multiple domestic incidents across Hamakua and South Kohala districts, leading them to charge him with 26 offenses: 12 counts of abuse of family household member; three each of second degree assault and terroristic threatening in the first degree; two counts each of terroristic threatening in the second degree; attempted felony abuse of family household member, kidnapping, fourth-degree theft, open container and unlawful possession of confidential information were all among them.

After consulting with prosecutors, detectives charged Kepoo with 26 offenses including 12 counts of domestic abuse against family household members; three counts each of second degree assault and terroristic threatening in the first degree; two counts each of second degree assault and terroristic threatening in the second degree; attempted felony abuse against family household members kidnapping, fourth-degree theft open container theft as well as unlawful possession of confidential information. He was sentenced to a minimum 10-year prison term at an October 24 hearing and will not become eligible for parole until April 22, 2031.
Adam Kahekili Kepoo of Honoka’a was sentenced to 10 years before becoming eligible for parole on abuse charges related to kidnapping his former flame. Kepoo was arrested at Kawaihae Boat Harbor when South Kohala police conducted surveillance and saw two occupants of an automobile with two persons inside it.
As soon as police reached out to the adult female driver, she reported being involved in a domestic incident with one of her male passengers, Kepoo. Following further investigation, detectives charged Kepoo with numerous offenses such as felony abuse of family household member, assault in the second degree and terroristic threats against one or more victims in Hamakua and South Kohala Districts.
Honokaa man Adam Kahekili Kepoo was charged with seven felony offenses – including kidnapping – on December 9 at Kawaihae Boat Harbor by South Kohala patrol officers. A female driver reported being involved in a domestic dispute with Adam Kahekili Kepoo as one of their passengers; police subsequently identified this individual. KITV4 News reserves all rights.
