Birds in our garden – how do they hibernate?

Are you looking forward to the great singing of these forest dwellers while strolling through the snow-covered forest? Many birds spend the winter in this country and always delight us with their presence. In today’s post we will briefly tell you about them and share a few tips about their winter feeding.

  • The nuthatch is easy to recognize by its black blindfold and the orange-beige underside. The nuthatch is feathered blue-gray on its back. The cute bird has a unique way to climb up and down and even head down on tree trunks and branches. He is looking for insects.

The nuthatch likes to deny other birds access to its nesting hole. The entrance is sealed with clay – except for a small hole about 4 cm in diameter. This is where his name can be derived.

These little friends also feed on seeds and nuts.

In mild winters, the birds can easily get their own food. At low temperatures, however, they need help, e.g. well-protected bird houses or small delicacies. How nice do you find these cute birds visiting in your garden or on your balcony?

Food should be laid out for them only in winter, from November to the end of February. The little feathered friends like clean houses, so choose those where the animals do not run around in the food. The house should stay wet and dry. The feed could simply consist of sunflower seeds and mixed birdseed.
