Brendan Henry is an intelligent and ambitious young man who possesses great promise. As a junior at the University of Nevada, Reno majoring in international affairs with minors in Arabic language and Middle Eastern cultures, this summer Brendan will intern for Senator Catherine Cortez Masto in Las Vegas before traveling to Yafit, Israel this fall as part of his junior year abroad experience – having received a Boren Scholarship that supports long-term linguistic and cultural immersion into areas critical for national security.
He attributes his success to having adopted a mindset focused on learning from past mistakes and striving for continuous self-improvement. Furthermore, he’s thankful for all the opportunities provided by the University, including student organizations and scholarship funding.
Professional Career
Brendan Henry is a real estate agent with Alliance Real Estate Services, serving as part of their client services team and leading client campaigns. Prior to joining Alliance, he led high-performing investment operations teams at Morrow Sodali.
During his tenure, he executed some of Australia’s largest M&A transactions and assisted clients in managing information flow and voting across complex corporate actions.
His studies at the University of Nevada, Reno included a bachelor’s degree in international affairs with an Arabic minor and completion of multiple immersive language programs both here in America and Israel. While in school, he interned at Senator Catherine Cortez Masto’s office. Furthermore, he is a professional tennis player currently ranked No.113 worldwide.
Achievement and Honors
Henry was selected this year to receive the prestigious Boren Scholarship, which encourages long-term immersion into geographic regions, languages and fields deemed important to US national security.
Henry is also a member of the Black Capstone Caucus and Student Life Advisory Board as well as TRIO. Being first generation to college himself, he credits this success to the vast resources provided by UHV.
Henry Transport was established by Henry as part of his family business and has grown exponentially from five lorries in 2002, to now comprising an impressive fleet of over 33 trucks and 70 trailers. Henry’s son Odhran played an instrumental role in Ballivor’s U12 team that triumphed against Carnaross to claim Meath A county championship glory in 2010. Achieve this award was an intensive process that involved extensive written essays, campus interviews and receiving an endorsement from his mentor at university.
Henry is thankful for the opportunities provided him by the University, attributing his success to its support, especially through BSO and TRIO programs on campus.
Net worth
After amassing wealth from his commodity trading firm, Henry began investing in sports team ownership. He purchased his inaugural team, Tucson Toros in 1989 before making it into major league ownership by buying a stake of the New York Yankees and later owning all of Florida Marlins before eventually selling them off to Jeffrey Loria.
Henry has built an expansive media empire through Fenway Sports Group. He owns majority shares in both Boston Red Sox and Premier League soccer team Liverpool as well as owning The Boston Globe and associated New England media assets.
Henry is married to actress Inga Cadranel and they share two children together. Henry professes Christianity.
