Dan Kozlowski is the Founder and Managing Member of Plaisance Capital LLC. From 2000-2006 he also served as Senior Investment Analyst with Janus Contrarian Fund focusing on insurance, banking, specialty finance, retailing and media industries.
He graduated with honors from Belmont University in Nashville, TN where he studied Percussion Performance and Music Theory. Additionally, he is affiliated with University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center.
Early Life and Education
Kozlowski was raised on Chicago’s north side by first-generation Polish American parents who immigrated from Poland, attending Our Lady of Grace elementary and Carl Schurz high schools respectively.
Dan Kozlowski is a Nurse Practitioner located in Cleveland, OH affiliated with University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Percussion Performance from Belmont University as well as a Master of Music Theory degree from Ohio State University.
Dan went on to work as a percussionist in Nashville, Tennessee before teaching at an elementary school near Chicago before joining the military. Since joining, he has seen multiple deployments to Middle Eastern regions as a member of his service; award recipients include Sagamore of The Wabash and Bronze Star Medal recipients; also being nominated for the Unity Insider Awards 2021.
Professional Career
Kozlowski began drumming at age seven and has played virtually every genre imaginable, such as rock, bluegrass, classical, contemporary classical and orchestral music.
As CEO of Tyco International, Kozlowski oversaw rapid expansion while leading an extravagant lifestyle. Unfortunately, his lavish spending and suspected misuse of power led to his arrest in 2005.
Seit 2012, Kozlowski has been a partner at Taft Stettinius and Hollister LLP in Indianapolis and specializes in government contracts law and government relations. Additionally, he serves as staff judge advocate for the Indiana National Guard and as a consultant to both Air Force Office of Special Investigations and Defense Intelligence Agency.
Achievement and Honors
Kozlowski has earned multiple accolades in addition to being a successful businessman and military officer, such as being recognized for his public service and law enforcement work. Governor Mike Pence honored Kozlowski with the Sagamore of the Wabash award in 2014 in appreciation of his service to Indiana as well as having him deploy several times between Bosnia, Afghanistan, and Iraq.
He is a dedicated member of FBLA, ranking among the top five in each business course he took as an undergraduate, as well as being active with region two since his sophomore year. Additionally, he works both inside and outside of school – holding two jobs while running his own pet and home sitting company.
Remarks for his outstanding leadership in limnological and biostratigraphic research, specifically his innovative use of DNA hybridization techniques to distinguish evolutionary relationships from convergent similarities.
Personal Life
Dan Kozlowski was an avid reader and beloved friend to all. He will always be remembered fondly as an attentive father, kind friend and quick witted individual who enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren while playing cards and taking them camping trips; additionally he enjoyed golfing and poker games among friends.
He was a member of St. Titus Catholic Church in Aliquippa and served with the United States Army during both Korea and Vietnam conflicts, with subsequent deployments to Bosnia and Afghanistan as a veteran. Governor Mike Pence presented him with the Sagamore of the Wabash award in 2014.
Dan is the Managing Member and CIO of Plaisance Capital LLC, a hedge fund manager. Before founding Plaisance, he served as Vice President and Portfolio Manager at Janus Capital Management where he oversaw their $4B Contrarian Fund and Nikko Global Opportunistic Equity Accounts.

Kozlowski rose rapidly through Tyco International until becoming CEO in 1992, where he faced few problems before scandal broke out in 2002 when it was revealed he used company funds illegally to purchase art and cover personal expenses – an accusation which eventually resulted in his conviction of securities fraud and grand larceny charges in 2005.
Kozlowski, 68 years old and president of his business which survived Enron and WorldCom bankruptcy filings. Now serving 8 to 25 years at Mid-State Correctional Facility in upstate New York.
