Early Life and Education
Dan McGuire was raised in an athletic family. While his older brother Mark excelled at American Legion baseball, Dan played football and basketball before finding his niche as a high school athlete; leading his football team to victory and earning All-American status for baseball.
As a freshman, he played for Iowa Hawkeyes before transferring to San Diego State. Later he made the leap from college rugby league football into professional rugby league with Leeds Rhinos where he won eight Super League Championships, two Challenge Cups, and three World Club Challenge titles during his time.
He currently advises both public and private companies on corporate transactions and US securities regulation, with extensive domestic and international experience in areas like mergers and acquisitions, initial public offerings (IPO), SEC reporting/disclosure compliance compliance agreements, commercial distribution agreements etc.
Professional Career
Dan specializes in bankruptcy, business reorganization and debtor-creditor rights. A published author on bankruptcy issues, Dan has lectured extensively to clients, law firms and industry groups alike. As an active member of the American Bankruptcy Association and recently honored as an Illinois Super Lawyer Rising Star (2008).
McGuire is actively engaged in community development efforts outside his legal practice. With his wife, they created the McGuire-Holden Family Scholarship Fund in honor of their parents to benefit students in rural Iowa and they also support Magis Clinic and Creighton Medical School.

In 2004, he helped Leeds Rhinos win the 2004 Super League Grand Final, while also playing a key role for Great Britain during 2005 Tri-Nations tournament (even if that meant coming off the bench to lose first game against Australia).
