Dan Bangura is a junior running back for Harvest Prep in Canal Winchester, Ohio, and his goal this season is to run for an astounding 3,000 yards.

Ohio State and Kent State as well as some Football Championship Subdivision schools have offered him scholarships; he projects as more of a slotback or wingback once in college than an every-down hammer he was at Harvest Prep. A Ryan scholar who participated in diversity hosting programs including Cornell’s Pre-Freshman Summer program; with extensive extended family in Sierra Leone and Guinea plus friends all over the world.

Professional Career

Bangura was one of central Ohio’s top scorers during high school football, earning all-metro honors and becoming Ohio’s career rushing leader with 39 touchdowns. Scholarship offers from Ohio University, Kent State and other FCS programs are now on the table for him.

He currently serves as an AFENET/CDC/Task Force Polio Eradication Surge Capacity Team assistant project coordinator in Sierra Leone for their Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP), supporting vaccine delivery and conducting surveillance activities like replenishing supplies, surveying active cases and garnering local leader support. His primary responsibilities include supporting vaccine distribution as well as conducting surveillance.

Bangura led his South All-Stars to victory against their North counterparts by rushing 25 yards and catching two touchdowns, while Grandview’s Savon Mitchell and Isaiah Mullens contributed with receptions, while Ready’s Ryan Wood and Brandon Spaulding made key defensive contributions.

Daniel Bangura hails from Sierra Leone. By profession he works as a Pharmacist; however, audio visual is one of his passions as well. Educated at Fourah Bay College University of Sierra Leone from 2013 – 2017, he studied mass communications before working on his debut gospel single called Streets of Gold.

Though Bangura had impressive rushing numbers this season at Harvest Prep, he is not considered a Division I running back prospect. Instead, his college role may likely involve slotback or wingback positions rather than his every-down role this year.
