Dan has served as Director of Drama Education for Honolulu Theatre for Youth since 2001, where he directed, acted in, and wrote plays performed across Asia, the Pacific, and North America. Additionally, he authored four books including Plato and a Platypus Walk into a Bar (co-written with Thomas Cathcart) and Travels With Epicurus.

He served as a 2009 Fulbright Senior Research Scholar in India and held fellowships at Montalvo Arts Center, TYA/USA and Children’s Theatre Foundation of America. Additionally, he has collaborated with theaters, schools and youth organizations in American Samoa, Pohnpei, Guam and India.

As a storyteller, he has collected and told tales in the Marshall Islands, Samoa and India. Additionally, he frequently guest lectures at colleges and universities worldwide. Furthermore, his stentorian bass-baritone voice can often be found featured in operas, concerts and musical productions worldwide.

Since retiring from the Marine Corps, he has stayed busy in theatre and writing. He is best known for his humorous books on philosophy such as Plato and a Platypus Walk into a Bar (co-authored with Thomas Cathcart).

Dan Klein is an enthusiastic teaching artist, known for traveling the globe in pursuit of his work.
