Dave Plush is a beloved icon in the Disney world and an original member of Walt Disney Archives. In 2017, he was honored with a Window Ceremony on Main Street U.S.A at Disneyland where he was presented with a button featuring his caricature holding Donald Duck plush and a print replicating his window.

On May 6, 2007, Staff Sergeant Plush distinguished himself through extraordinary valor in action while serving as Weapons Squad Leader with the 3d Platoon, Company A of 5th Battalion, 20th Infantry Regiment, 3d Brigade, 2d Infantry Division during Operation IRAQI FREEDOM. In this action he dismounted to his Stryker (A32V), which had been hit by an enemy improvised explosive device and extinguished its fire with a hand-held hose. He then rescued Specialist Clark and assisted in recovery efforts; adjusted his men into secure posture and searched for fallen colleagues.
