David A Unsinger

David Unsinger is an American athlete competing in track and field. At Mentor High School he earned four-year letterwinner status, as well as earning All-American recognition both junior year and senior year for 200-yard Medley Relays and 200 and 400 Freestyle Relays respectively – holding school records both times around! Eventually graduating with honors.

Early Life and Education

David Unsinger is an early childhood education teacher currently teaching Kindergarten at Vinalhaven School since 2015. He is passionate about helping children understand that societies are dynamic rather than static, and change can come about through individuals taking steps towards making the world a better place.

David is a proud father to three children – Ellie, Liam and Colin. In his free time he loves reading books and spending time with his family; hiking the trails of Vinalhaven; taking Nahla for walks. David feels honored to be part of such an extraordinary community and hopes that Vinalhaven students continue to love learning as much as he does! He strives to make learning exciting for them.

Achievement and Honors

As a student-athlete, David Unsinger has distinguished himself both on the playing field and academically. He earned multiple accolades during his college years and was even inducted into the North Coast Athletic Conference Hall of Fame. Furthermore, Unsinger was recognized nationally as a Scholar-Athlete.

Wabash College presented him with the Hunsinger Award, bestowing it on an outstanding senior student-athlete who exemplifies excellence in athletics, academic achievement and community service. A committee comprised of North Coast Athletic Conference administrators and faculty representatives chose him for this honor.

David is a dedicated family man and enjoys reading, cooking and traveling. Additionally, he enjoys music from Widespread Panic and the Beastie Boys as well.

Personal Life

David Unsinger was a family man at heart. As proud father to two daughters – Hailee and Riley, his pride and joys – David filled his free time firefighting, hunting and the occasional night on the town with friends or playing golf at University of Texas Clubhouse Clubhouse Clubhouse Clubhouse Clubhouse; not to mention being known for being generous towards peers and causes alike.
