David Dorris is an art history professor at the University of Michigan who rarely mentions to his students his past involvement with a rock band, yet they all seem to know him well enough by now.
He’s an acclaimed author, having published seven books. Additionally, he’s a member of the Midwest Writing Center in Rock Island, Illinois.

Dorris was born on December 1, 1947 in Morrilton, Arkansas to Herbert Hoover Dorris and Leola Bertha Gunnells-Dorris. He passed away on November 15th 2015 in Omaha Nebraska from complications of diabetes.
He earned his 2-year degree in General Studies from Scott Community College in 1992 and coached Dads’ Club softball for many years. He is an incredibly kind and generous individual who enjoys making people laugh.
