Dave Nestor began his career at Enterprise Rent-A-Car in Dallas as a Management Trainee in 1985. Over the course of several years, he held positions of increasing responsibility before being promoted to Area Manager for their Dallas subsidiary.

In 2022, David Nestor assumed the position of Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Enterprise Holdings Inc., responsible for global rental operations, franchising, business development and all Entegral initiatives.

Early Life and Education

Nestor was born into a working-class family in rural Maryland and lived on his family’s farm until 15 years old. These early experiences shaped his scientific interests, research methods, and even retirement activities.

Nestor was an early advocate for science education. He studied a wide variety of subjects, such as history and literature.

He studied German and chemistry, which proved beneficial in his studies. This education shaped his philosophy towards science, leading him to become an acclaimed scientist known for his research in marine biology. Additionally, he is the author of several books. Currently serving as senior vice president at Enterprise Rent-A-Car, he also serves on the board of directors for Our Little Haven–an organization providing safe environments for children who have suffered abuse.

David Nestor is an esteemed executive at Enterprise Rent-A-Car with a tenure spanning more than three decades. As executive vice president and CFO, his responsibilities span across multiple continents.

He boasts an impressive list of industry awards and recognition, having helped the company reach more than $500 million in sales for 2017. As a result, his peers elected him CEO of the Year 2022.

He is an A+ Club member and has received the company’s highest honors for customer service excellence. As such, he is a well-liked and admired senior officer at their headquarters in St. Louis, Missouri.

David Nestor has achieved great success as a flutist, earning himself the Latin Grammy award for his CD This Side Of Paradise. Additionally, he has collaborated with numerous artists such as Gloria Estefan, Kenny Loggins, Dave Mathews and Herbie Hancock.

He currently serves as Senior Vice President of Enterprise Rent-A-Car, overseeing global operations, franchising operations, business rental & replacement/leisure sales as well as product & mobility solutions for the company.

He has been honored with the Kansas Chapter of Certified Commercial Investment Members (CCIM) and WSU Center for Real Estate Lifetime Achievement award, honoring local professionals who have made outstanding achievements in their fields of work.

Personal Life

David Nestor is an Irish Gaelic football player for Kilmacud Crokes, having previously represented Ballyhaunis and Mayo.

He serves as Executive Vice President of Global Operations for Enterprise Holdings Inc., overseeing all rental operations worldwide as well as franchising, business development and human resource initiatives.

Nestor has written for publications such as Outside, Scientific American, Dwell, National Public Radio, The New York Times, Men’s Journal and San Francisco Chronicle Magazine. His 2020 nonfiction book Breath: The New Science of a Lost Art spent 18 weeks on both Wall Street Journal’s bestseller list and was translated into more than 35 languages.

Nestor was previously on the board of Whitfield School and currently sits on that of Our Little Haven, an organization dedicated to providing a secure, healing space for children who have experienced abuse.
