Evelyn George was born and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas. As a disciplined child who wanted to please her mother, Evelyn began taking piano lessons at an early age.
She later joined The Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints and was sealed in the Los Angeles Temple. Throughout her service in numerous stake missions and work at LA Genealogy Library, she gained insight into its rich history.
Despite her hardships and trials, she managed to maintain her faith in God and continue caring for her husband. The hardships were offset by the joys that followed from having faith in Jesus Christ.
She and her husband eventually relocated to Oregon’s Timberbelt Circuit, where she assisted him as a counselor. Unfortunately, he eventually fell ill and their pastorate came to an end.

Evelyn is a pioneer who co-created Intuitive Eating, an innovative method that allows people to find peace with their eating and body image. She provides one-on-one counseling, writing, workshops and media appearances as she helps individuals cultivate healthier relationships with food and their bodies.
She has a passion for working with medically underserved and vulnerable populations to increase awareness about cancer so people can make informed decisions about their healthcare. Evelyn George was born to Early Morgan Brown and Edith Bertha Harris Brown in 1914. As a child, she learned how to craft Catawba pottery and was soon recognized as its master potter by the Catawba Indian Nation.
She and her husband moved to Newton in 1983, becoming part of the community ever since. When not baking or gardening, she enjoys spending time outdoors.
She was fortunate enough to grow up surrounded by people of exceptional intellect, including a number of influential adults. Additionally, she was an ardent feminist and signed the 1889 Declaration in Support of Women’s Suffrage as a testament to her commitment.
She was not only a teacher, but also an accomplished author and illustrator of children’s books. Her works were renowned for their gentle humor and vibrant colors that they used to depict everyday life. Furthermore, she wrote extensively on religious topics.
