Feng Shui in the entrance area – the hallway

It is worth planning the design of the entrance area in order to create a pleasant atmosphere there. The stress of everyday life will fall away as soon as you step into the house, if the design of the hallway conveys a cozy, open and friendly feeling of space.

A hallway should therefore be clearly structured and designed to be open and friendly. As for all Feng Shui areas, the rule of thumb is: order and cleanliness. You should pay particular attention to it if the hallway is used as storage space for various everyday objects such as vacuum cleaners or beverage crates. These should best be stowed neatly in closed cupboards. Shoes, bags and coats, unread mail and other small items should either be presented in an original way or find their place in cupboards and drawers.

The lighting in the hallway should appear bright and friendly. You can achieve a lot with light accents and create cosiness in the hall. Crystal chandeliers are also ideal because they attract and condense the chi. Skilful lighting can be used in a long and narrow hallway, which is considered unfavorable in Feng Shui, to positively influence the flow of chi.

Direct front door-back door or front door-window lines are also considered to be disadvantageous, because the chi that comes in at the front door cannot collect and spread, but rather runs out directly to the back door / window. To avoid this, you can use a nice screen or curtain as well as plants, home accessories and lighting effects that distract the view from the back door / window.

If there is a guest toilet across from the front door, its door should always be kept closed and made as inconspicuous as possible. A mirror that hangs in the hallway directly opposite the entrance door is very unfavorable because it immediately reflects the energy out of the apartment. Sharp edges that point directly to the center of the door also disturb the incoming chi and should be de-sharpened with plants or soft flowing cloths.

When choosing colors in the hallway, you can’t go wrong with bright, friendly or fresh colors. Plants, beautiful pictures and decorative objects will make the hallway look inviting and homely, so they are always a good choice.
