Early Life and Education
At the start of his life, George had no formal education and could not find work that paid enough to sustain himself. So he learned a trade to survive by working as a general household worker, hotel cook, laundryman, and farm laborer.
At 50 years of age, George was offered a job as nurse for the Union army during the Civil War. Throughout her service she served on the battlefield and worked in makeshift hospitals, caring for many wounded soldiers. She gained notoriety for her kindness, compassion and devotion to patients – earning her a place of honor in Fort Wayne, Indiana where she is buried with military honors.

He’s well known as a regular CBeebies presenter and CBeebies ambassador for people with Down’s syndrome. His roles on stage and screen have earned him awards like the Bafta winner he is, plus he’s currently competing on Strictly Come Dancing alongside professional dancer Amy Dowden.
