After retiring from Goldman Sachs in 2012, he joined Star Mountain Capital as President and works with the firm’s portfolio companies to add value. With over 25 years of investment banking experience, he has provided C-level executives and boards with strategic add-on acquisitions and financings, as well as leading deal teams and negotiating transactions.
He currently sits on the boards of Delta Air Lines, Air France KLM Group, Virgin Galactic, Virgin Orbit and Xos Trucks. With extensive public company board experience as well as SPAC merger board expertise and deep strategic and financial knowledge, he brings a unique perspective to these organizations.

He has also been recognized by the Mercer County Soil Conservation District for his dedication to environmental preservation on his family’s farm. He has implemented numerous conservation practices such as hay land planting, pipelines and cross fencing on his land.

George Mattson is an experienced industrials advisor and investor. He currently serves as director of Delta Air Lines, chairing their Finance Committee, as well as serving as Senior Advisor to Comvest Partners and Star Mountain Capital.
He previously served as partner and co-head of the Global Industrials Group at Goldman Sachs, where he was involved in a variety of investment banking activities such as M&A, debt issuance and equity research. Furthermore, he spearheaded their recruiting initiatives for both groups.
He has invested in numerous lower middle-market industrial companies, partnering with founders and management teams to provide growth capital and help them realize their strategic vision.
