Roll out the clay on parchment paper to keep the table clean.

1. Roll out a piece of clay evenly until it is 0.5 cm thick. Take a suitable cookie cutter with a diameter of 7 to 9 cm and press firmly with it. Only then can you remove the mold.

Time for small holes!

2. Take smaller cookie cutters of your choice and decorate your coaster with various beautiful holes. Make sure that you do not punch about 0.5 cm from the edge so that the coaster remains stable. The small cookie cutters for our project look like diamond, heart, star, eye, circle and triangle. The geometrical arrangement of the small holes creates a laser-cut look. But this is not a must and you can try other variants.

Press the round cookie cutter again on the perforated coaster so that all unnecessary residues are removed. With wet hands, correct the shabby edges to refine them. Now let the clay circles dry completely for 2 days.

After the coasters are completely dry, stick strips of masking tape up to the middle. Paint the uncovered side with the foam brush in selected acrylic colors. Carefully paint the inside of the small holes for a perfect look.

If you like the pastel shades, but perhaps you don’t have any, we recommend mixing a 1: 2 ratio between colored and white colors. Remove the tape only after the paint has completely dried out.
