John Anagnost is a highly-rated Hematologist Oncology specialist in Wilmington, North Carolina and affiliated with Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

In 2018, he realized a lifelong baseball goal by joining the Cardinals’ fantasy camp in Cooperstown, N.Y. He joined the Gray Wolf team – composed of men aged 60 or older – which is dedicated to providing opportunities for those over 60 to play professional baseball.

Early Life and Education

John Anagnost was raised in Sherburne, Iowa where his family still resides today. As a child, he attended school there before attending Cornell University.

He joined the Army during the Korean War and served as a first lieutenant in the 3rd Infantry Division. Following the conflict, he earned both a master’s degree in engineering science and doctorate in aeronautical engineering from Stanford University.

He is currently the CEO of Autodesk, an internationally renowned design and engineering software company. His career has taken him around the world and he also has a passion for philanthropy; donating $300,000 to California State University Northridge (CSUN) for their Teresa Sendra-Anagnost Memorial Scholarship Endowment. Additionally, he has made many other significant contributions to his community; one notable example being founding of Anagnost Family Foundation.

Professional Career

John Anagnost has extensive professional coaching experience at the NCAA Division I level. He served as head coach of Mississippi State from 2017-18.

In his two seasons at Mississippi State, the Bulldogs achieved unprecedented success: they finished in the top 25 for the first time in program history and qualified for the NCAA Tournament for a second consecutive year. Furthermore, they set attendance records during both regular season and tournament play.

He has extensive coaching experience at the high school level, having coached Bay City John Glenn (1999-02), Saginaw Heritage (2000-02) and Flint Powers Catholic (2003-07). At Kalamazoo College he earned three All-America selections and four All-MIAA selections while earning his bachelor’s degree in political science from the school as well as a teaching certificate. Currently he serves as Associate Head Coach for University of Cincinnati.

Achievements and Honors

Anagnost has earned a plethora of accomplishments throughout his career. As part of the University of Miami’s varsity soccer coaching staff from 2011-12, he helped steer the program to two NCAA tournament appearances and two wins against top-10 teams for the first time ever in school history.

He served as head coach at Central Michigan, leading them to a 45-12-7 record and two MAC Championships.

Since 1997, he has held various roles at Autodesk, including engineering, sales, marketing and product management. Furthermore, he has served as Director of the Company since June 19, 2017.

He also donated to the Cancer Institute at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown. This institute is dedicated to providing top-notch cancer care throughout northeastern United States.
