Early Life and Education

Early childhood education is critical for children’s development and success throughout their lives. This is because this period of a child’s life is when their brains develop at the fastest rate.

This is where social skills, self-esteem, moral outlook and cognitive abilities are established. Additionally, these years are where they learn to form important relationships with teachers, peers and parents.

As a result, high-quality early childhood care and education can be a key indicator of a country’s health and future positioning. This is why UNESCO endorses high-quality early childhood education as one of its sustainable development goals.

National University’s Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education program offers an exemplary curriculum that emphasizes critical thinking, research and the role of technology. For example, one of the first courses students take is Early Cognition where they explore current research in brain development and cognition to understand how that affects classroom instruction.
