Early Life and Education

John Hafley grew up in Montvale, New Jersey and is a former college wide receiver. He received his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Southeast Missouri State University and his Doctorate of Jurisprudence from South Texas College of Law.

Having served as a police officer, prosecutor and private practitioner, Hafley has extensive criminal justice experience. He also has a strong background in transparency and the Constitution, both of which are necessary for a successful court judge. Boston College head coach Jeff Hafley announced that Notre Dame tight ends coach John McNulty will serve as the team’s offensive coordinator. McNulty has extensive experience at both the NFL and college level. He served as an assistant coach with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Dallas Cowboys, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Arizona Cardinals and Tennessee Titans. He also has six years of experience as a quarterbacks coach. His hiring marks the first offensive coordinator change since Hafley arrived in Chestnut Hill. His experience with pro-style offenses and spread concepts will help the Eagles in their quest to score more points this season.

He has also served as an assistant coach for the Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers and San Francisco 49ers. He has led his teams to several top-10 rankings in defense, including second nationally in total defense (266.6 yards per game), third nationally in sacks (3.92 per game), fourth nationally in passing yards allowed (148.1 yards per game) and first nationally in red zone defense (64.2%).
