Early Life and Education

John Warren “Bo” Hutto was born in Lake Wales, Florida on April 26, 1971. He passed away on October 16, 2021. Throughout his life, he developed a beautiful family. The Hutto family is survived by 16 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. During his life, he remained dedicated to his family and to God.

A graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, Miss., Donna Hutto studied industrial management. After her graduation, she married John Warren “Bo” Hutto.

Their children include Artisia and William Hutto. While John and Lois raised the children, they also shared their musical talents in the community. They were active in Veterans Foreign Wars and in church music.

When he retired from law enforcement, John Hutto began teaching school. Upon receiving his bachelor’s degree, he decided to pursue a career in fashion merchandising.

Hutto’s awards include the Kuwait Liberation Saudi Arabia Medal, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Medal, the Humanitarian Service Medal, the Army Meritorious Service Medal (4th Oak Leaf Cluster), and the Iraq Campaign Medal. In addition, he has received numerous other military decorations.

A graduate of The Citadel, Hutto served in numerous leadership roles in the United States Army. He was appointed professor of military science at The Citadel in 2010. After retiring from the Army, he served as the director of alumni affairs at The Citadel. As an Army officer, he has served in various duty positions during the Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm and Operation Enduring Freedom.

Prior to his appointment as an instructor at The Citadel, Hutto taught at the University of Hawaii. He was also a church pastor at the Church of God of Prophecy in Villa Rica, Georgia.
