John Iatrides

John Iatrides is an associate professor of international politics at Southern Connecticut State University and an expert on the Greek revolution. He served in both the Greek National Defense General Staff from 1955-56 and with the Office of Prime Minister of Greece from 1956-58, in addition to authoring numerous books.

Early Life and Education

Recent years, early childhood education has become a contentious issue in public policy circles. Whether on the local, state or federal level, legislators are debating how best to invest in preschool and pre-K programs as well as which type of programming benefits children most.

Many educators report feeling more anxious and overwhelmed, leading to higher-than-normal turnover and decreased teaching quality. Furthermore, with continued low wages for teachers, it has become increasingly difficult to attract the skilled professionals needed to provide quality education to young children.

Achievements and Honors

John Iatrides has earned numerous accolades throughout his life. He currently teaches international politics at Southern Connecticut State University and has published several books on Greek history. Additionally, he serves on the board of directors for both American Studies Association and Graduate Studies Committee of Modern Greek Studies Association; additionally, he served as president of Athens Club New York City’s board. Additionally, John was awarded with Dissertation Prize by Indiana University’s History Department in 2011.
