John Pinson is an accomplished physician with more than 32 years of experience in healthcare. He currently practices at Sutter Medical Center – Ose Adams Medical Pavilion and holds certification as an anesthesiologist.

In addition to his role as anesthesiologist, Dr. Gomes also holds a Certified Public Accounting degree. CPAs are responsible for offering financial services and advice to individuals, companies, and government agencies alike.

He was an outstanding student, earning honors and awards in academics. Additionally, he participated in several community service organizations like Raeford Lions Club, Halifax County United Way and South Boston Rotary Club.

Professional Career

Pinson, who played center field for the Cincinnati Reds during the 1960s, was an impressive star center fielder. In his career he amassed 2,757 hits, 485 doubles, 127 triples and 256 home runs – an incredible total!

His speed and base running prowess enabled him to steal a career-high 305 bases during his 11 seasons with the Reds. Additionally, he led the National League in stolen base percentage three times and finished as one of the top ten players for batting average six out of those 11 seasons.

After his playing days were over, he enjoyed a successful coaching career that included stints with the Seattle Mariners and Chicago White Sox. Tragically, he passed away in 1995.

A proud Navy veteran having served during Vietnam’s attrition war, Pinson had many interests besides these sports.

He was a true Renaissance man, with an insatiable interest in history, literature and music. His hobbies included collecting antique ephemera from that era as well as learning about and sharing new discoveries with family and friends – often being addressed as “John Pinson III.” Additionally, John enjoyed traveling, particularly to libraries and museums where he would be known by his nickname: “John Pinson III.” Additionally, he enjoyed scuba diving around Antarctica to further savor its waters.
