John Raineri was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Survived by his beloved wife Mary (Ferrante) Raineri; five children: Barbara Raineri with Robert Whitham; Diane Whitham and James; John Raineri with Judy; and Michael Raineri.
He is survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. A longtime resident of Somerville, he will be fondly remembered by his family and friends.
He began his career in the United States Marine Corps, where he achieved great success as a combat veteran and earned multiple awards. His leadership abilities and work ethic allowed him to become an impressive sales professional within the medical device industry. Later, he launched Raineri Consulting with the purpose of applying his experience and knowledge to assist businesses expand their revenue streams.
Four decades ago, John Raineri spearheaded an innovation in how Americans finance their homes. He is credited with creating a secondary market which packaged mortgages into securities for sale.
He founded Hyperion Partners, an investment firm, in 1988. Additionally, he is a member of the National Housing Hall of Fame and recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Fixed Income Analysts Society, Inc.
His personal net worth is estimated to be $10 million, consisting of assets across 13 countries and two properties. He enjoys sports, with his favorite team being the Portland Trail Blazers; he also loves skiing and spending time with family. Currently based in Portland, Oregon, he has worked at Central Oregon radio station KFXO as well as KVAL in Eugene, Oregon.
