Alvin Kamara and Jonathan Kamara
New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara made an immediate impact against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 4. He amassed 104 yards from scrimmage and scored one rushing touchdown.
On Monday, Kansas University added Kamara from Desert Edge High School as its latest recruit in Arizona for its 2024 class. Kamara, an accomplished 3-star athlete known for being a hard hitter, will add another dynamic player to their class of 2024.
Early Life and Education
Jonathan is a popular boy name with biblical roots that means, “God has given.” No doubt this makes Jonathan one of the more widely chosen options available today.
Jonathan was Saul’s eldest son in the Old Testament and is best remembered for his courage and loyalty towards David as an admirable figure. Tragically, Jonathan lost his life fighting Philistines but left an example of perseverance and faithfulness that lives on today.
Kamara quickly established himself on local soccer fields following his playing career at W&M, helping run the Community Partnership program and coaching Legacy travel teams and running soccer clinics for elementary school children. Both he and his wife actively volunteer their services for various charities.
Professional Career
After graduating William and Mary with honors, Kamara quickly established himself on local soccer fields as the go-to man for youth soccer development – drawing children and their families to Community Partnership games, coaching travel teams and conducting clinics.
Kamara is an exciting runner with breakaway speed and an eye for scoring touchdowns, even after missing four games due to suspension. Now in his midseason form, he continues his progression.
St. Louis Saints quarterback Drew Brees is one of the main reasons they’re winning; he leads their rushing yards and total touchdowns, making him an absolute must-own fantasy option in all formats. Unfortunately, PPR leagues might struggle due to his low catch rate this season. But still an outstanding running back like Brees can compensate.
Achievement and Honors
Kamara was honored with Tasmanian Australian of the Year accolades in 2023 due to his outstanding humanitarian and advocacy work for migrants, refugees, and people from culturally diverse communities. Utilizing his own experiences as a former refugee he now helps others who find themselves in similar situations.
He chose Kansas over offers from Texas, Washington and Arizona State and was heavily recruited by Jordan Peterson and Chris Simpson of their defensive backs program and linebackers program respectively. When attending Kansas next fall with Aundre Gibson of Desert Edge Football Academy.
Deshawn Warner, another of his high school teammates, also listed Kansas University among his top four schools last week and could possibly join them one season down the line. They will all visit in June to complete their recruitment processes and finalize their decisions.
Personal Life
John Kamara left war-ravaged Sierra Leone in 2004, successfully campaigned for his release from prison, and then relocated to Tasmania. There, he has served on multiple boards while working to assist migrants, refugees and those from culturally diverse communities; drawing attention to systemic disadvantages they experience such as racism, labor exploitation and recognition of overseas qualifications.
Kamara attributes his struggles upon release from prison to his failure to comprehend societal norms and rules, in particular during his first months back out with no resources other than clothing on his back – missing out on support that usually awaits those rejoining society.
Kamara joins fellow Desert Edge player, cornerback Aundre Gibson, in making Kansas his choice in 2024. 347Sports Composite three-star talent Deshawn Warner also prioritizes Kansas.
Net Worth
NFL running back Alvin Kamara’s wealth isn’t solely dependent on his earnings alone – his endorsement deals also bolster his income significantly.
Kamara has also ventured into business by diversifying his income streams by investing in real estate properties and partnering with new startups. By diversifying his income sources, he ensures long-term financial security.
Kamara enjoys living a close and loving family life in New Orleans and is widely recognized in his hometown. In interviews, he often mentions his mother and brother. Additionally, through charitable works in Liberia he helps support his native community there. A great ambassador for both Saints and country, as well as an inspiration to young athletes everywhere, Kamara strives to be at his best at whatever he undertakes.
