John Adams graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Harvard University in the 1750s with the intent to go onto law studies; instead he accepted a teaching job in Worcester, Massachusetts instead.
At this time, he met Abigail Smith whose family were highly respected within their community. Together they began exchanging letters that became an extensive record of their interactions.
Adams began to notice the rapid changes occurring within society, technology, and politics sweeping America at that time. Distressed by this development, he sought self-education courses in order to adjust better to his new world.
