Kennedy Boggs

Delphos Jefferson High School for three seasons as a varsity basketball player and earned first team all-Northwest Conference as well as honorable mention all-Ohio honors.

Boggs’ career took an unexpected turn when her baby boy was diagnosed with developmental disabilities and she became a staunch supporter of developmentally disabled families.

Boggs plays an instrumental role in Oliver Stone’s film JFK as the character who convinces Jim Garrison to reopen the investigation into John F. Kennedy.

Early Life and Education

Boggs and her husband met at a fraternity party while both attending Newcomb College as seniors. Soon thereafter, they collaborated on “The Hullabaloo,” the student newspaper where she served as women’s editor while he served as editor-in-chief.

David was born weeks after World War II had ended and had high fever during the neonatal period that left permanent brain damage; had he been born even several weeks earlier he probably would not have survived.

At the close of World War II, newly developed antibiotics became widely available for civilian use – these may have saved David’s life! He currently resides in a special care facility.

Professional Career

Kennedy Boggs earned first team all-Northwest Conference, honorable mention all-Ohio and Sectional championships during her three years on varsity at Delphos Jefferson High School.

At one point in her life, she lived on a plantation in Point Coupee Parish of Louisiana. After graduating from Sophie Newcomb College in 1936, she married Fitzhugh Boggs in 1941 and started a family with him. Her initial goals included being an ideal wife and mother while maintaining an attractive home environment for her offspring and providing cultural outlets for them.

Boggs achieved an extraordinary victory when she won a seat in Congress – an unprecedented accomplishment for any woman! Her legislative interests included equal opportunity and minority rights legislation, Mississippi River transportation and housing policy issues. Furthermore, she helped transform Patton Boggs lobbying firm into one that represented some of the biggest corporations and trade associations in Washington DC.

Achievement and Honors

Boggs was honored to be recognized with induction into both the Red Sox Hall of Fame and Rays Hall of Fame. He holds fourth in American League third basemen history for career batting average, hits, doubles, and times reaching bases.

During her time in Congress, she introduced legislation regarding housing and Mississippi River transportation policy. She served on the House Banking and Currency Committee and championed equal rights for women, minorities, and children.

Jamie Boggs is Vice President of Athletics at Grand Canyon University. Under her direction, division-I athletics has achieved rapid success, with nearly all female leaders and Christian principles being upheld throughout. She was honored as one of Arizona’s Most Influential Women 2021 as well as receiving multiple prestigious awards and recognitions for her efforts.

Personal Life

Boggs is an active member of Covenant Presbyterian Church and actively involved in community activities. Additionally, he works as a urologist at South Central Bell’s medical department with an ERISA-qualified pension plan.

He is the proud parent of six children; five daughters and one son. Barbara, his eldest daughter, works in government; while Thomas, Thomas’ son-in-law, has become one of Washington’s premier lobbyists.

He was Lindy Boggs’ husband before she passed away in 2009. However, unlike most congressional widows she ran for reelection and proved an effective politician herself. Influenced by Speaker Sam Rayburn who instilled in her a deep respect for representative democracy and its institutions; as well as being an outspoken supporter of civil rights for women and minorities as well as championing gun ownership rights and opposing President George W. Bush’s presidency with her strong opinions against him as an opponent and advocate.

Net Worth

Boggs, who was one of the greatest hitters in MLB history and is honored as a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame, reportedly has an estimated net worth of $20 Million.

He serves as senior policy adviser at Squire Patton Boggs, a lobbying firm representing large corporations such as Royal Dutch Shell and Management and Training Corporation (which owns one of the US’ largest private prisons). Furthermore, according to public disclosure forms he has also led think-tank initiatives which further the interests of clients represented at this firm.

He currently resides in Florida’s Tampa Palms area with his wife Debbie and has two children together: Brett and Meagann. Known for his superstitions such as eating chicken before every game – earning him the moniker “Chicken Man”. A two-time All-Star and the only left-handed player to ever win five American League batting titles!
