Kiowa Rodeo
Kiowa Rodeo is an exciting summer event organized by Colorado Professional Rodeo Association that showcases events such as bull riding, bucking bronc riding, mixed team roping and barrel racing for women – not forgetting Mutton Bustin’ speed events and concert and dance events!
Dave and Linda passed on their love for the fair to their daughters Tammi Schneider with her husband Josh and three children; as well as Misty Meister with Matt Meister and two of her own children who also volunteer at it.
Early Life and Education
Kiowa, Colorado lies in Elbert County’s high plains region and exudes rural charm while remaining within one hour’s driving distance from Denver metro area. Home to around 750 residents, this small town encapsulates western spirit beautifully.
Town has an intriguing past dating back over 150 years. Once serving as a stage stop along the Butterfield Overland Dispatch’s southern branch of Smoky Hill Trail.
The Kiowa Rodeo is a CPRA sanctioned event, offering bull riding, bareback riding, steer wrestling, saddle bronc and ladies barrel racing events as well as mutton bustin’ and boot scramble competitions for children. Previous attendees say it has become an enjoyable family tradition.

Lori McEntire rode Cee Bar Pride, their two year old Palomino at the County Fair and won two Miss Kiowa Rodeo Queen titles – Lori has two daughters who are 10-year 4-H members and they both say some of their most fondest memories come from 4-H membership.
