Liam Donnelly suffered two health issues that left an impressionful memory with Kathy and Tim Donnelly when he was in first grade, prompting them to bring him for treatment at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP).
CHOP’s expert team quickly determined that one of his eyes was weak despite appearing normal to him and treated it accordingly. A second health concern, including a twisted spine, also required medical intervention.
WasteNot, his own composting services company, was started out of his passion for sustainability. Over time he grew it from 12 accounts to 300; while studying at Loyola he continued expanding this venture while working full-time for his family retail store in Yorktown Heights.
Professional Career
Donnelly is an esteemed sports photographer who has photographed many of the country’s premier athletes. Additionally, as an SFU alumni – where he served as head coach of their varsity swimming and diving team for 30 years – he offers unique insight into the game.
Liam currently plays for Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership and represents Northern Ireland internationally. He began his career with Dungannon Swifts before making the transition into Fulham’s youth setup and captaining their Under 18 squad before going onto Crawley Town and Hartlepool United respectively.

As SFU’s varsity swim team’s head coach since 1992, winning 15 NAIA championships as well as coaching three champions and 42 All-Americans; his efforts earned him this accolade.

Liam is an unassuming queer cartoonist whose work has appeared in 24 Panels, DROME and Vagabond Comics. Based out of Queens with his partner Tim, his interests include roller disco, Courtney Love and watermelon-flavored seltzer.
In May, he made his senior squad debut for Northern Ireland and also featured for Dungannon Swifts U18s as well as Fulham before moving onto Hartlepool United and then Motherwell where he became an essential component of their defense.
Liam currently plays midfield for Kilmarnock FC. His father was a retired police officer; Eamonn is his brother. Born in Dungannon, Northern Ireland to Michael Donnelly and Therese Donnelly with Kathryn as his step-mother; Liam also has one step-grandmother named Helene Donnelly as an auntie.
