Loretta Adams has earned herself a good name by regularly appearing at animal activist fundraisers with her captivating smile and blonde, curly mane. Additionally, she sells needlepoint merchandise and exhibits watercolor paintings.

Early Life and Education

Contrary to most young women of her time, Yolanda Salas encouraged her daughter to continue her education and not rush into marriage immediately after high school graduation.

She attended night classes at Hobson Technical Trade School and earned her GED. Additionally, she learned sewing and gardening from her mother.

Callie Adams was an accomplished artist, songwriter and philanthropist who touched so many lives with her talent and generosity. She deeply loved her family–especially their four legged members–and was an unwavering servant of God. Callie was beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all.

Adams can often be found attending animal rights fundraising events and advocating on their behalf for domestic violence victims. She has collaborated with Jewish community groups in raising awareness of spousal abuse among the religious population.

Adams is survived by her husband, Marlon Red Elk; three sons: Darren, Chad and Carmen Red Elk of Frazer and Poplar respectively; as well as one granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews in Frazer, Wolf Point and Poplar. A memorial service will take place at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel in Georgetown Texas.

Loretta Adams has also been actively engaged in charitable giving, supporting organizations such as Special Olympics and American Legion Auxiliary with donations. Furthermore, she serves on the Board of Directors for National Council for Disabled Veterans.

In 2000, she received the GRAMMY Lifetime Achievement Award for “Coal Miner’s Daughter.” Likewise that year, she was honored by being inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.

She enjoys traveling and spending time with her family – two sons and one granddaughter are part of that equation – in her free time, she enjoys traveling and spending time together as part of Lompoc Ladies Elks membership, sewing and cooking are among her hobbies; additionally she’s involved with church services; served on Special Olympics of Pennsylvania Board and volunteerd for Hermitage Goodfellows among many other community activities.

Personal Life

Loretta would frequently travel around the western United States with her husband, enjoying such activities as going to bingo in Las Vegas, dancing at powwows and visiting family. Additionally, she enjoyed attending rodeos and poker tournaments.

She cares for an extended family of nieces and nephews as well as providing babysitting for nearby neighbors and friends. Additionally, she makes homemade pies and Christmas caramels as well as tending her garden which provides food throughout the year and she preserves any excess.

After disbanding the Cardinals, Adams decided to take some time away from performing, yet continue writing music. He returned in 2020 with the release of Wednesdays on his Pax Am label and has produced music from other artists as well.
