Campbell House Museum was the inaugural building on Lucas Place – St Louis’ first private neighborhood – which were set back 25 feet as well as prohibiting commercial activities except churches and schools.

Professional Career
Lucas secured himself a starting position after an outstanding NCAA Championship Game performance and tour of Italy, joining the 1960 Olympic squad as its big man. Though his Olympic Trials performance wasn’t particularly noteworthy, U.S. coach Pete Newell decided to use him at center instead and Lucas received the starting nod.
Lucas changed defensive strategies with his outside shooting – often beyond today’s three-point line – during the season and became one of the first players ever to become champion at all three levels of basketball (high school, college and Olympics) as well as being an NBA superstar.
Lucas had fallen on hard times by the time of his final years as a pro, weighing in at 240 pounds and experiencing significant speed loss in an increasingly tough NBA East division. Still a popular crowd draw, his teams struggled in this challenging environment as well.
