Since joining the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra as Resident Conductor in 2009, he has performed over 150 times with them and at Carnegie Hall’s Spring for Music festival during their 2012 Spring for Music festival. Additionally he serves as Discovery Series Conductor and Assistant Conductor of Cleveland’s RED contemporary ensemble.

His symphonic performances have featured collaborations with artists like Carly Rae Jepsen, The Barenaked Ladies, Crash Test Dummies, Ben Folds, Buffy Sainte-Marie and Canadian Brass as well as various multimedia presentations such as Aretha: Queen of Soul (co-creator), Disney in Concert Blue Planet Live as well as Dvsn’s debut as R&B duo Dvsn.

He has won the 2023 Apiculture New Zealand Ron Mossop Youth Scholarship to assist with training and set-up costs of his beekeeping business. He said he was “pretty stoked and surprised” to receive this award, which includes membership with industry body Apiculture New Zealand for one year.

Personal Life

Lucas Waldin has quickly established himself as one of the premier conductors in Europe and North America due to his engaging style and flair in both classical music and pop music performances. In 2009 he joined Edmonton Symphony Orchestra (ESO) as Resident Conductor before later being made Artist-in-Residence/Community Ambassador; an innovative position which allows him to perform over 20 times annually while strengthening community ties through innovative outreach programs.
