Early Life and Education

Luke Greinke was born and raised by Donald and Marsha Greinke of Orlando, Florida. At Apopka High School he excelled as both an outstanding baseball player – winning numerous tournaments and awards – as well as excelling at other sports like golf and tennis.

In 2008, he was selected by the New York Yankees in the 12th round of MLB draft and chose Auburn University as his college baseball venue; there he earned a degree in Criminology.

In 2013, Kershaw signed a record $147 million contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers – the largest ever given to a right-handed pitcher at that time – but his ERA increased significantly during 2013. A psychologist later diagnosed depression and social anxiety disorder as the source of this psychological issue; neither issue has ever been disclosed publicly.

Professional Career

Greinke was selected in the first round of the 2002 Major League Baseball draft by Kansas City Royals. Since making his major league debut, he has become one of the premier starting pitchers, earning multiple awards and accomplishing many milestones throughout his career.

Greinke led the National League in wins with 17 and posted an ERA of 2.71; he also joined an All-Star team and earned himself a Gold Glove award.

He has a proven record of success with his fastball, which can reach 95-96 MPH, and has also expanded his repertoire by creating offspeed pitches. Additionally, he currently owns and operates a real estate brokerage business specializing in timber and recreation sales.

Greinke’s outstanding pitching record earned him a place in the 2014 MLB All-Star Game and set an MLB record with 22 consecutive starts allowing two or fewer runs, leading him to winning both American League Cy Young Awards.

Greinke is married to Emily Kuchar, a former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader and Miss Daytona Beach USA 2008. They met while attending Apopka High School and now reside in Orlando.

He spent most of his career with them, becoming one of the best pitchers in baseball – winning an American League Cy Young Award that year and participating on their World Series-winning squad from 2010.

They met as high school classmates, married, and now share two sons together.

Luke is his younger brother and played baseball at Auburn University before being selected by the New York Yankees in the 12th round of 2008 MLB draft, however due to injury he had to retire shortly afterwards.
