Mikel Fetterman, a Democrat From Braddock, Pennsylvania, Is Getting Bigger

Mikel Fetterman was found unconscious at his New Kensington apartment and later passed away from kidney failure at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. Both Teresa and Keith Lilly have since been charged with murder.

Witnesses have testified that they heard Lilly strike the boy with a closed fist before she witnessed Lilly hit him with another closed fist on the buttocks, KDKA’s Ross Guidotti reports.

Early Life and Education

Mikel Fetterman was moved by his friend’s death and by seeing an Ad from Benetton featuring skeletal AIDS victims to make changes in his own life. After quitting his insurance job and enrolling in AmeriCorps to teach GED classes in low-income neighborhoods, he went back to school, eventually earning a master of public policy degree at Harvard.

After graduating, he moved to Braddock and established its inaugural community garden. Additionally, he assisted local schools by improving them further; cleaned abandoned houses; and transformed an old church into an arts center.

After Republican Pat Toomey decided not to seek reelection, Fetterman entered the race. Although an underdog candidate, he quickly managed to emerge triumphant in an intense primary, defeating surgeon and television personality Mehmet Oz who had criticized his use of unproven remedies.

Professional Career

After losing his best friend in a car accident during his final semester at college, Fetterman became involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters as a volunteer and was assigned an 8-year-old boy whose father had recently succumbed to AIDS while his mother lay sick with terminal illness and on the brink of her own passing away.

Fetterman was inspired by this experience to dedicate himself to public service. In 2005, he won election as Mayor of Braddock, Pennsylvania’s postindustrial suburb where he quickly earned acclaim for his efforts to reduce violence and boost the local economy.

He has since emerged as a powerful progressive leader, garnering national renown for his advocacy on issues like LGBT rights and marijuana legalization. Often appearing at events wearing baggy Carhartt sweatshirts and gym shorts makes him stand out among more formally attired senators.

Achievement and Honors

Fetterman has attracted much interest as an unconventional Democratic Party candidate with his old-fashioned work ethic and unconventional campaign. When wearing his Carhartt work shirt with its roll up sleeves and showing off his tattoos at campaign events, as well as making eastern Pennsylvania jokes at his events – it is difficult not to view him as an ever-increasing celebrity who continues his rise through politics.

His appearances at congressional hearings regarding carbon caps and talk show appearances have earned him national exposure, yet his use of thrombectomy and implanting of a defibrillator indicate a more complicated health profile than has been disclosed to date.

He stands behind Medicare for All and practical measures to curb gun violence – two positions which align perfectly with the current mainstream of Democratic politics.

Personal Life

Fetterman was revered throughout Braddock for his efforts to reinvigorate its steel industry and revitalize youth programs – as well as for defying right-wing caricatures of contemporary leftist politics as inaccessible and out of touch. A 6-foot-8, 325-pound Harvard graduate, Fetterman became beloved to many due to his iconic status in Braddock. A prominent Democrat himself, Fetterman defied right-wing stereotypes by remaining accessible and genuine while remaining an icon for many locals he represented.

His death sent shock waves through both Pennsylvania and nationwide. He was found unresponsive with multiple injuries including a skull fracture with bleeding outside of his brain, oral trauma, bruises and signs of long-term abuse and potential sexual assault, according to KDKA reports.

Fetterman utilized social media while recovering, reaching voters he couldn’t meet in person or address on TV. A campaign aide reported that Fetterman often struggled to understand what other people were saying so he relied on a tablet transcribe the conversation for him.

Net Worth

Fetterman is an accomplished politician known for his progressive agenda. His advocacy efforts champion social and economic justice. Due to this work, Fetterman has become a favored member of the Democratic Party; many have mentioned him as potential presidential or Senate hopeful.

He reportedly boasts an estimated net worth of approximately $2 Million, amassed through his career as a politician and his work to alleviate poverty in communities through socially responsible investments.

He earned both his undergraduate degree in Finance at Albright College and MBA degree at University of Connecticut. Additionally, he is an alumnus of Harvard Kennedy School of Government. Together with Gisele he currently resides in Braddock in a converted Chevy dealership.
