BSU Men’s Soccer Coach Oliver Twelvetrees
Oliver Twelvetrees has transformed the men’s soccer program at Yale into an national contender, winning 81 games and leading his team all the way to tournament semifinals.
Hurdle has witnessed many of his former players take up roles at top NCAA Division I universities and renowned professional clubs worldwide – and some return for another season with him.
Early Life and Education
Oliver Twelvetrees was born June 12 in Bemidji, Minnesota alongside his twin brother Jack. At Bemidji High School he played football and soccer for the Lumberjacks under head coach Bryan Stoffel and earned three-year varsity starter status – serving as team captain on their defensive line team as well. As a student at BHS, he earned all-conference and North Central Red Conference defensive player of the year honors. Following high school he studied at Scottsdale Community College before earning both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Bemidji State University. Twelvetrees also served two years as the BSU women’s soccer graduate assistant under longtime Beavers head coach Jim Stone. Later, she went on to coach men’s soccer at Barton Community College and Eastern Florida State College before taking over at CSU Pueblo.
Professional Career
Oliver Twelvetrees has tied his professional success closely with that of Boise State’s men’s and women’s soccer teams, recording 239 career college wins as coach – including numerous conference, region, and district titles.
Twelvetrees’ push forward of the pack continued in the final minutes of the national semifinals as Shjon Andrews received the ball from midfield and headed it across goal towards Gabriel Campora for an unassailable goal – ultimately sealing victory!
Twelvetrees founded the Eastern Florida State men’s soccer program in 2012 and built it into a national contender over six seasons with an 81-18-8 record and two NJCAA Division I national tournament runner-up finishes and four consecutive NJCAA Region VI titles under his guidance. He earned his master’s degree at Brighton University, Great Britain before receiving his USSF “B” coaching license.
Achievement and Honors
Twelvetrees was honored to receive two United Soccer Coaches Junior College Division I South Region Staff Coach of the Year awards from United Soccer Coaches Junior College Division I South in 2019 and 2021, after leading Barton Community College Cougars men’s soccer to two consecutive appearances at NJCAA national tournaments under his guidance.
Twelvetrees helped over half of his student-athletes graduate to four-year institutions while coaching multiple All-Americans like current California State Polytechnic University players Ricardo Schroeder and Shjon Andrews, among many others. Prior to Barton, Twelvetrees served as head coach at NCAA Division II Wayne State College in Wayne Nebraska where his teams won conference, regional, and district titles before serving as an assistant at Bemidji State University’s Women’s Program as an assistant assistant coach.
Personal Life
Twelvetrees was raised in Minnesota’s soccer-rich state and earned three varsity letters for Bemidji High School under head coach Bryan Stoffel as part of the varsity defensive line – notching over 135 tackles during his high school years.
He started coaching men’s soccer at Eastern Florida State College in 2012 and his teams have won both conference and regional titles as well as multiple NJCAA national tournament appearances since.
Twelvetrees is well-versed in managing successful college programs, having led women’s teams at NCAA Division II Wayne State College in Nebraska as well as men’s teams at Barton Community College and NCAA Division III Bemidji State University. He holds both a National NSCAA Premier Diploma as well as USSF B License coaching credentials.
