Polaris: New entry-level ATV at a competitive price
From the end of November 2013, Polaris is offering a new entry-level ATV at a competitive price with the Sportsman 570: At the price of the old Sportsman 500, the new one has electronic injection, has more power, more torque and a stronger alternator and has been improved in many details. After all, the Polaris Sportsman 500 has been the flagship of Polaris’ Sportsman line since it was launched in 1996. For the 2014 model year, the American manufacturer has once again improved its best-selling 4×4 ATV. The result is the new Sportsman 570 EFI. With 44 hp, the new model has around 20 percent more power than the previous class leader, the Sportsman 500 HO

In addition, the Sportsman 570 is equipped with electronic fuel injection (EFI), as well as offering more comfort and additional practical features. The base model is joined by a version with electronic power steering (EPS) and a touring model with a long wheelbase and two-person bench seat.
570cc Pro-Star single cylinder engine
At the heart of the Sportsman 570 EFI models is the liquid-cooled 570cc Pro-Star single-cylinder engine: a powerful, yet smooth-accelerating, efficient power unit – designed for work, hunting and play. Originally introduced on the RZR 570 side-by-side vehicle, the engine features dual overhead camshafts, 4 valves and an automotive electronic fuel injection system. The claim of Polaris, with the Sportsman to offer the toughest worker on the market, is to be met by this engine with ample torque. After all, the Sportsman can tow a lot of material and equipment with a maximum trailer load of up to 810 kg.
Improved ergonomics and more comfortable chassis
In addition to the new 570 engine, the new one is characterized by improved ergonomics. Its chassis is based on that of the Sportsman XP and offers additional comfort. The front part of the seat and the side parts have been slimmed down by around 8 cm in the thigh area. In addition, the footboards have deeper heel cups, so that the driver can position his feet a good 5 cm further back. The distance between the driver’s feet has been reduced by 2.54 cm; all this makes it easier to get on and off and improve mobility when driving.
Robust, practical luggage rack and more powerful alternator
The redesigned body of the Sportsman 570 EFI models features an optimized front rack as well as a unique, redesigned rear rack: a rugged, exposed tubular steel construction equipped with ‘Lock & Ride’ mounting technology. The front rack features an integrated 24.6 liter capacity storage compartment that is accessible even with cargo strapped over it.
In addition, the new Sportsman 570 EFI models have a new alternator that provides 40 percent more electrical power above idle speed than the alternator of the predecessor – this means that several attachments can now be supplied with electricity at the same time, such as the one that is standard on the Forest models Winch and optional lights. The 570 Sportsman models also have a longer range thanks to the 11 percent (2.3 liters) larger fuel tank.
Polaris Sportsman 570: Construction Features
Also practical on the Sportsman 570 EFI models is the ISO engine mount, which reduces engine vibration and mechanical stress when starting. The engine’s wet sump concept makes oil changes easier. In addition, the new 570 Sportsman models offer the design features that have always distinguished Polaris ATVs:
- high work performance;
- high driving comfort;
- Independent rear suspension with a spring travel of 24.1 cm, which dampens body roll movements and increases smoothness;
- a ground clearance of 28.6 cm to protect the underbody;
- dynamically engaged all-wheel drive that knows no obstacles: all four wheels are automatically engaged when more traction is needed; when this is no longer the case, the system switches back to two-wheel drive.
Colours, accessories, availability & prices
The Polaris Sportsman 570 EFI is available in green or white, with EPS and Touring versions in white. There is a wide range of accessories for the Sportsman 570 models in the Polaris range. The machine can be adapted to personal requirements with various bumpers, cargo boxes or suitcases, luggage rack rails, windscreens, wind deflectors or a gun box with holder. A selection of snow plows is available for work in winter. The Sportsman 570 is designed in such a way that many accessories from the predecessor Sportsman 500 can be used on it.
Polaris Germany has not announced any price increases for its new entry-level ATV at a competitive price: The Sportsman 570 EFI Forest is being offered at the same list price as its predecessor, the Sportsman 500 HO. In addition to the basic model ‘Sportsman 570 Forest’, there is the ‘Sportsman 570 EPS Forest’ ‘, which is equipped with power steering (EPS), and the ‘Sportsman 570 Touring’, which has an extended wheelbase and a long bench seat for two people instead of power steering.
