Louisville, Kentucky and smaller division schools recruited him, and during his senior season with Eastern High School he recorded 79 tackles with five TFL’s and one sack – all impressive accomplishments!

Early Life and Education

Quintez Thomas, 22, attends Eastern High School in Louisville. Born and raised in South Louisville, he made an impactful mark during their 2022 campaign – earning All-District honors as both an offensive and defensive lineman for their Eagles team.

Thomas received multiple offers to play college football at smaller division programs, but ultimately chose Louisville over Kentucky. He announced this decision via Instagram live stream, citing his strong relationship with UofL assistant coach Mark Ivey as one of the primary factors.

Louisville Bail Fund Organization affiliated with Black Lives Matter paid his $100,000 bond Wednesday afternoon and released him from Metro Corrections hours later. He is charged with shooting at mayoral candidate Craig Greenberg’s Butchertown campaign headquarters Monday morning; no one was injured but bullet fragments struck Greenberg’s sweater and shirt, according to reports.

Professional Career

Thomas was tragically cut short when he was shot and seriously injured during an exchange involving Sangsouriyanh Maniphonh outside Corner Bar on Walton Street. This left him critically injured and unable to walk, and ultimately leading him to pass away a month later.

Gilmore assisted former running back Connor Heyward in becoming one of the nation’s premier tight ends during his second season at East Lansing and was eventually selected in the sixth round by Pittsburgh Steelers for NFL draft 2022.

Detroit selected Wisconsin wideout Quintez Cephus as part of their fifth-round selection in the 2020 NFL Draft. Cephus was known for being an effective big play threat during his Badger career and led all conference in terms of receiving yards, receptions, and touchdowns.

Achievement and Honors

Quintez Thomas is an exceptional defensive back for a Louisville program on the rise but which has struggled in recent seasons. While at Stone Mountain High School he earned all-Area honors by recording 50 tackles, five tackles for loss, a quarterback sack and three forced fumbles during his junior year alone – an All-Area performance which won him All-Area honors as well as three forced fumbles.

He is a member of MMA promotion QUEENT (stylized as QUINTEZ), having participated in a 5-on-5 tag team tournament of the NEXT FC 5 on 5. Additionally, he has competed for Ultimate Championships and Ring of Honor competitions and earned himself a reputation for being a fierce competitor.

Personal Life

Quintez Thomas earned All-District honors while at Louisville Eastern High School in 2022 and received multiple offers to play Division II football from both UofL and Kentucky; ultimately choosing the Cardinals over Kentucky due to their defensive line coach Mark Ivey’s personal relationship.

Quintez Thomas was a beloved local figure, famed as one of the stars in reality show Real Men of Louisville. An active supporter of Black Lives Matter and community activism, he often spoke out against injustices within our city. Quintez loved jewelry, rap music and wandering aimlessly without an objective in sight. He is survived by his mother Debra Renee Moore; as well as siblings Kaymone Zinneatra Jafray and Tiray Moore.
