Early Life and Education

Steve Causey has been working at the Downtown Main Library for 26 years and prides himself on creating a safe space where patrons can use its resources safely.

His father was a drilling superintendent and so he spent much of his early life traveling between rigs. Later, he settled down in Houston where he attended Stephen F Austin High School.

Dr Steven Causey, MD is an internist in Detroit, MI who practices at Michigan Health Center and St Mary’s Hospital of Michigan. He accepts multiple insurance plans and has been practicing medicine for over 30 years; graduating from Wayne State University School of Medicine.

He enjoys listening to various musical genres and bands, such as Evanescence, Kidneythieves, Tool, Static-x Alice In Chains and Korn. Additionally, he likes watching movies and reading books; is an avid runner; and values spending time with family.

Achievement and Honors

He was a member of the Association of Medical Illustrators, receiving their Brodel Award for Excellence in Education. Additionally, he was a fellow of BioCommunications Association as well as receiving their Golden Eagle Award.

Causey was well-regarded in the federal workforce, often sharing jokes or humorous tales with his colleagues. He was also famous for the stacks of printouts, newspapers, magazines, pamphlets and knick-knacks that would cover him when sitting at his desk.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Causey; daughters Libby Causey-Hicks and Jocelyn Causey, son Michael Causey and an affectionate fur baby known as Bootsie. Unfortunately he was predeceased by a brother named H. Gregg Causey. Funeral services will be held Friday October 11 at Moseley Funeral & Cremation Service of West Columbia.

Steve Causey finds great enjoyment in spending his free time with friends and family, reading, and listening to music, with some of his favorite bands including Evanescence, Kidneythieves, Crossbreed, Tool, Nightwish, and Spineshank being his favorites.

Causey asserts in his consolidated appeal that the Government exercised peremptory strikes in an unequal fashion and unlawfully excluded African-American jurors, particularly African-American women, from being on his jury. According to him, their articulated reasons were not credible or quantifiable and internally consistent – also suggesting their trial should have been separate from Davis and Hardy’s due to being non-capital prosecutions.
