Steven Head was one of Ole Miss’s legendary baseball players, earning three All-American awards and helping put Rebel baseball on the map.
As the current Chancellor at Lone Star College, his primary goals include student access, equality, success and completion; academic quality; workforce programs tailored to community needs; and collaborations between educational and business partners.
Early Life and Education
He was raised in Noblesville, Indiana. His grandparents were sharecroppers and he helped out around the farm selling items for spending money as well as hunting & fishing for fun. Later he took an interest in arts & sold short stories to men’s magazines.
Erich serves on the Leadership Council of Los Angeles Latino Giving Circle Network, an organization which empowers grassroots philanthropists to advance social change. Additionally, he sits on Dream Camp, Gesu School and Minding Your Mind boards where he strongly advocates collaborative learning and good governance practices; committed to supporting students and families with access, equality and success of students as well as quality workforce programs tailored to community needs.
Professional Career
Steve brings over 25 years of experience to his role as strategy advisor and consultant to executives and boards. He has guided clients in making difficult but pragmatic strategy choices in times of uncertainty, particularly consumer-driven or growth sectors. His expertise spans across most industries with particular expertise in consumer-focused sectors.
Steve was recognized with the PGA Teacher of the Year title twice between 2016 and 2018, in addition to serving as Golf Tournament Director at various country clubs, corporations, and elite golf events.
Steven is a Nashville native who attended Mt. Juliet High School and David Lipscomb College before entering private practice for 32 years in southeast Nashville – with privileges at Physicians Pavilion Surgery Center and Southern Hills Medical Center, plus membership of the American Board of Podiatric Surgery.
Personal Life
Steve Head is a husband, father, and lawyer. He attends Hillcrest Christian School and the University of Mississippi as well as being a former professional baseball player who represented the US national team during 2003 Pan American Games and currently acts as scout for Los Angeles Dodgers.
He works with forward thinking organizations to generate innovative new ideas, enhance culture and climate, and maximize leadership potential. Additionally, he serves on various non-profit boards and community organizations.
