Early Life and Education
Thomas Penson was the husband of Nikki McCray-Penson, a former professional basketball player. Throughout her struggle with cancer, Thomas provided support, showing love and devotion with their shared moments that became invaluable memories.
Richard Kyrke was county surveyor for Denbighshire and Montgomeryshire as well as an innovative architect and bridge designer. Additionally, he designed several cottage ornee style houses. Two of his sons, Richard Kyrke and Thomas Mainwaring Penson went on to become architects themselves.
No information exists regarding Penson’s early life and education; however, we know he attended the University of Tennessee majoring in electrical engineering before later going on to work for Kendal Electric.
Thomas Penson was an architect and County Surveyor in Montgomeryshire. His works included churches, bridges and public buildings in Overton-on-Dee. Thomas also specialized in designing estate housing with cottage ornee style cottages as well as Black-and-White Revival architecture featuring large brick chimney stacks with ornamental bargeboards.
Nikki McCray-Penson was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013, and her husband Thomas Penson stood by her side throughout her battle – attending games and events she hosted wearing pink as a show of solidarity for survivors.
Penson attended the University of Tennessee for his degree in electrical engineering and is now employed as an Account Manager with Irby Co. His family currently resides in Starkville, Mississippi.
Achievement and Honors
Thomas Penson has always been an instrumental presence in Nikki McCray-Penson’s life both professionally and personally. He was by her side during her basketball career as well as during her 10-year battle with breast cancer, being an active participant at cancer-related events and wearing pink attire while carrying their son while doing laps around the field before an event in 2015. One memorable instance saw him wear pink apparel while doing laps before an NBA game, wearing their son on his shoulders before doing one lap around before game day in 2015.
Little is known about Penson’s personal life beyond what his wife has revealed on social media, though he works at Irby, an electrical supply distributor. Additionally, they share custody of a 10-year-old son. Both can often be seen together at events or games.
Penson was the loving partner of Nikki McRae. He proposed at one of her basketball league games as an expression of his undying affection, before marrying on March 30, 2022 and spending 21 years together as husband and wife.
Richard Kyrke and Thomas Mainwaring Penson, two of his sons, went on to become architects. Thomas Mainwaring Penson also served as surveyor of Montgomeryshire Turnpike Trusts as well as designing numerous roads throughout Montgomeryshire County.
Penson was an active churchgoer. Additionally, he enjoyed traveling widely around Europe by ship – often visiting Rotterdam, Delft and Leyden along his travels. Additionally he was noted as an antiquary as well as watercolour painter, often renovating local mansions such as Dynevor and Bronwydd in Dynevor’s locality.
Nikki McCray-Penson was fortunate enough to share an important relationship with Thomas Penson. Their deep bond created many meaningful moments. Together they shared parenthood of Thomas Nikson Penson; an energetic presence who provides her with energy during recruiting efforts and provides morale support and support when meeting with recruits.
At the University of Tennessee, they both pursued their interests: McCray excelled in basketball while Penson focused on electrical engineering. After graduating college in 1995, Penson joined Kendal Electric. However, investors are currently pressuring this company due to a disclosure in its quarterly report which revealed its collateral position could be decreased through writeoff of bonds related to Retama Racetrack in Texas.
