Thomas Pfaff, 82, of Mio, passed away on December 7, 2019, at the Age of 86
Thomas Pfaff passed away peacefully at home on February 25, 2018 after living 82 years. He leaves behind his wife Lynn; daughter Tosha Pfaff of Mio; son Cody Pfaff from Comins; sister Reva “Bunnie”, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as arrangements handled by Lashley Funeral Home of Mio.
Pfaff set a personal record in efficiency on November 18, 2008 during Lipscomb Bisons’ home win against Mercer Bears by tallying 25 rebounds, 10 points, and one assist.
Early Life and Education
Thomas Pfaff was raised by his parents in Chester County, Pennsylvania. As the eldest of three siblings and an avid athlete himself, Thomas enjoyed sports immensely. Following graduation from high school he completed an apprenticeship at West Chester Village Record where he would later contribute regularly as an editor and columnist.
At this time, he also began writing his own poetry and published his debut volume of verse Ximena in 1844.
He found great happiness spending time with his granddaughter in later years, while remaining devoted husband and father who enjoyed spending time with family members. On Thursday afternoon at the Samaritan Center in Voorhees he passed away surrounded by many members of his immediate and extended families as well as many close friends. Rosa L Pfaff nee McGowan of Voorhees NJ survives him along with many family members and close friends.
Professional Career
Thomas Pfaff is a project engineer for Banton Construction. In this role, he oversees engineering projects by assigning tasks and monitoring progress while ensuring compliance with quality standards and safety regulations.
His work has been featured in various exhibitions and publications, and he has lectured at universities nationwide as well as participated in multiple artist residencies. At Ithaca College he incorporates sustainable ideas into mathematics courses taught.
His work can be found in private collections around the globe and has been shown at several galleries including Ameringer | McEnery Yohe Gallery in New York; Neither Here Nor There in Ameringer McEnery Yohe Gallery New York and Chapel and Brook at Bellas Artes Santa Fe New Mexico, receiving awards and commendations including Woody English Distinguished Artist Award for his artistic endeavours.

Pfaff has published many scientific papers throughout his career. His studies focus on hormones’ effect on brain arousal as well as their regulation by nerve cells to direct natural, instinctive behaviors.
He enjoys spending his free time playing bridge, doing crossword puzzles and traveling. Additionally, he operates Pfaff Prairie Dairy Farm which houses 450 cows. In order to stay connected with University of Wisconsin-Madison by hosting visitors and helping researchers, Pfaff also maintains Pfaff Prairie Dairy as an operation.
As Director of Honors, he collaborates with faculty members to craft an innovative curriculum and maintain student records. Furthermore, he has organized a residential learning community for Honors students as well as recruitment efforts that significantly increased yield from those invited to apply.

He was also the brother of James Pfaff and Margaret Mae Pfaff.
His remains were interred at Pfaff’s Funeral Home in Mio, Wisconsin where he had long resided as well as being an active member of both the Navy and Army Air Corps he served with during World War Two. A sports enthusiast, he would attend local sporting events frequently.
