Timbercut: ATV in forest use

The ATV in forestry shows Holm Kollautz from Timbercut in ATV in the forest: A Yamaha Grizzly 700 and a Can-Am Renegade 1000 help with TimbercutBad Schmiedeberg a good service and a clear time saver. The transport of tools and material also makes it easier to manage in the forest, because a Yamaha Grizzly 700 and a Can-Am Renegade 1000 help out. Timbercut is active in forestry, municipal services and wood processing.

ATV in the forest: increase in performance

His ATVs give Holm a clear advantage on the job. Everything is a little faster and a little easier. For example when it comes to putting up a fence. “Working with the ATV not only makes it easier to transport tools, but also to unroll the fence,” says Holm, ATV in the forest: Holm is now a lot faster when inspecting the fence, and the tools and materials are always to handCompany founder of Timbercut. “The distribution of the columns is also quicker with the ATV. With a small additional cost of 0.06 euros per running meter, the ATV helps me to increase performance by up to 20 percent in forestry work,” explains Holm.
In May 1991, Holm founded his company as a forest service company – at that time as a one-man operation with a tractor and attachments. A lot has happened since then. “Today we work in a very wide range, for example in the field of highly mechanized logging, manual logging, silviculture, forest care and timber construction; Traffic safety, tree surveys, construction site clearance and winter service are also among our tasks. And now my ATVs help me to cope.”

Grizzly and Renegade: Reliable partners on the job

Holm also relies on his ATVs for fence inspection. Now he no longer has to walk down the fences, he can drive down them. Holm has calculated a time saving of 60 percent. At the same time, he has the required tools to hand and can repair immediately.
The vehicles also help with spraying. By using two tanks on an ATV, each holding 100 liters, Timbercut employees get around more efficiently. The equipment also includes pumps and hoses, each three meters long. “Because the ATV is there, the additional costs compared to motor sprayers are very low, and there is no need to carry it on your back. ATV in the forest: The tanks no longer have to be carried on the backSo the work is a lot easier,” emphasizes Holm. “In addition, there is no need to constantly refuel the backpack equipment that was once used.” Here, too, Holm has calculated the time savings: “For a full spraying with Roundup of one hectare, the job with an ATV and two people – one drives, one sprays – takes around three and a half Hours. We are talking about 100 percent more performance.”
In addition, the distribution of the plants is much easier with the ATV in forestry work, it saves extreme running times and even non-industry personnel can be deployed due to the ongoing control.
Another field of work – area inspections – is easier to do with an ATV. “In preparation for harvester operations, areas have to be inspected to calculate the costs. Here, too, we can save time by driving around with the ATV.” Holm also points out that areas above a certain size are no longer visited. With the ATV, however, you can make a quick sightseeing tour, and thus calculate the costs better.

Holm’s ATVs: Yamaha and Can-Am

Holm has been using his Yamaha Grizzly 700 since 2006. “So far there have been no faults, it is a top machine. We carry out the inspections in our own workshop.” The entrepreneur has owned the Can-Am Renegade 1000 since 2012. “It is a brute fun monster, it is a pleasure to work with it.”
In relation to ATVs used for work, Holm points out that the vehicles are becoming ever wider and heavier. “If you calculate reasonably, an ATV has to fit on a normal car trailer with a towing capacity of up to 750 kg. So you should be careful when buying an ATV, because the width of the trailer is usually missing by 4 to 10 centimeters.” chk
