As early as 1998, the North Americans presented their Ranger, a vehicle that came with the all-wheel drive technology of an ATV and where the pilot and co-pilot could sit next to each other instead of behind each other. “The Ranger not only had to impress with power, it also had to underline its off-road qualities with outstanding handling and a higher load capacity than all competing models on the market,” says Mitchell Johnson, who, as the son of Polaris co-founder David Johnson, played a key role in the development of the utility Tarrain Vehicles (UTV) was involved. The market is now behaving a little differently – Polaris has had competition: the increased competition from Can-Am and Yamaha has put Polaris, as the top dog, under pressure.
