Deputy Tyler Thoman

Deputy Tyler Thoman has been recognized with the 2021 NRA Law Enforcement Officer of the Year award, in recognition of his bravery and courage when confronting an armed and violent suspect during a traffic stop.

He played both football and baseball at Gordon Lee High School in Chickamauga, Georgia and earned all-state recognition in both sports. As team captain in his senior year he helped guide Gordon Lee High to its state championship game victory.

He was an inspirational leader and hard worker on both the field and in the classroom, serving as an outstanding role model to younger players while always remaining positive and funny. He loved laughing and always had a big smile on his face – something many will miss greatly, including his parents and sister who will miss him dearly.
