What Luther really wanted?
In 1517 Luther wrote down everything he wanted to change. It became 95 theses, i.e. 95 suggestions for improvement, which he is said to have nailed to the door of the Castle Church in Wittenberg. Luther wanted to “reform” the church, that is, he wanted to go back to its origins.
