MacFall was born in Donaghadee, County Down, Northern Ireland and later immigrated to England as an adult. Throughout her adult life she became active in the suffrage movement.

He was an accomplished author of both fiction and non-fiction works, as well as creating stunning art related items like bookplates, covers and illustrations. Additionally, he had a close connection to one of art history’s greats: James McNeill Whistler.
