John Andriotis and Strat Andriotis

John Andriotis is a billionaire businessman who owns the Gristedes supermarket chain, real estate, an oil refinery and convenience stores. He holds a grudge over losing his mayoral campaign to Joe Lhota but has yet to officially endorse him.

He chose to remain at NYU Grossman School of Medicine for residency because of the warm, supportive, and collaborative community of residents and faculty he had encountered throughout medical school. Now as an inpatient chief resident, he plans to hone his leadership and educational skills in preparation for a career in academic medicine.

Early Life and Education

Early in a child’s life, they acquire social-emotional skills and lay the foundation for learning. Additionally, this period marks when their brains start to grow at an exponential rate.

Establishing a solid foundation during these formative years is essential for children’s future success, when they face more complex social-emotional difficulties and academic endeavors. That is why research into early childhood development is so important.

Understanding how a child’s experiences from birth through age eight, and even prenatally, impact their learning capacity, behaviors and health is invaluable for policymakers and civic leaders when crafting their shared agenda. That is why the UN Sustainable Development Goals emphasize the significance of high-quality early childhood education as one of their targets.

Professional Career

John had an early interest in biomedical engineering. Throughout school, he became fascinated with both the art and science of medicine as well as its people and places. After graduating from Stony Brook University, he made New York City his permanent home; making friends that would last a lifetime. Professionally speaking, John joined the medical staff of VA New York Harbor Healthcare System and New York-Presbyterian Hospital; there he has had the chance to learn from some of the finest physicians and scribes around.

Strat Andriotis is a Greece-born, Canadian guitarist making waves in the industry. His 2016 CD entitled Less Off Patient features eleven original tracks of captivating instrumental guitar music that blends Gypsy Jazz and Neoclassical styles, performed alongside Jeff Vidov on piano and Adrianna Lee on violin.
