Keith Sweat Net Worth 2022

Keith Douglas Sweat is an American singer and songwriter. He is known for his work in the new jack swing genre. His musical career began in 1975 as an individual from the Harlem R&B group Jamilah. After a couple of years, Sweat left the band and started his own project.

In 1992, Keith Sweat formed his own record label called Keia Entertainment. The name is a reference to his daughter Keia, who was born in 1992. Although the record label failed, Sweat continued his music career. Other projects included his album Make It Last Forever in 1987.

Currently, he lives between New York City and Los Angeles. During his career, he has performed in different places, and his projects have found success overseas. One of his latest projects is Playing for Keeps.

Keith Sweat has had many ups and downs in his life. The musician and record producer was raised by his mother, Juanita, after his father passed away. Later, he ran into some financial difficulties.

Initially, he worked as a night stock boy at Macy’s Department Store. He later worked as a mailroom clerk at Paine Webber and a brokerage assistant at the New York Stock Exchange. Eventually, he got promoted to a supervisor position at the New York Mercantile Exchange. However, his career was not able to go as smoothly as he would have liked.

In the late 1990s, Keith Sweat had to face some financial problems. His first major setback came when he was sued by a mortgage company. A mortgage company named PMI Mortgage sued to place a lien on Sweat’s assets and earnings. PMI Mortgage claimed that Keith owed $450 thousand on his mansion in Detroit.

According to PMI Mortgage, Sweat had defaulted on his mortgage payments and failed to make payment for his house in Detroit. Since he could not pay the debt, the mortgage company sold the property. Even though the bank was able to recover the money from the sale, it still owed over $200,000.

Sweat’s net worth is estimated to be just under $5 million. Considering his 30 year career in the music industry, this is a relatively low amount. Despite his low net worth, Sweat is very popular among fans on social media. Several of his hits include Make It Last Forever, I Need Her, and Bent.

When he is not working on his music projects, Sweat is a father of four children. Among them, he has two sons with his ex-wife, Lisa Wu Hartwell. Their sons are Justin and Jordan. They have been married for two decades, and the couple separated in 2002.

The couple is also parents of their youngest daughter, Briana Johnson. Both Keith and Lisa were co-stars of the reality show “The Real Housewives of Atlanta”. Despite the divorce, they still remain close.

Keith Sweat is currently trying to put his life back together. But his financial difficulties are likely to take a long time to fix. If you are going through a similar situation, you should contact a certified credit counselor for help.
