Robbie Price and Noah Gass Discuss Their Rookie Seasons

Robbie Price and Noah Gass both made their World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series rookie campaigns official this weekend. Both drivers know their most essential asset is personal laps logged rather than how many more laps their competitors have completed than them.

This sentiment holds especially true this weekend when the series makes a stop at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Texas.

Early Life and Education

As a child, Gass devoured every book he could get his hands on – he even used pocketbooks to carry books around! After attending College of Wooster and later Washington University in St Louis he taught there.

Mounds, Oklahoma native and Ran-No-Gass Racing Team member Noah Gass of Mounds earned his inaugural Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association A-main victory on Saturday at The Plymouth Dirt Track. Outdistancing Scotty Thiel of Sheboygan Wisconsin during the final laps, 18 year-old Noah outshone him by outlasting Scotty in this 30-lap main event.

Gass has taken on an impressive challenge this season as his rookie World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series campaign, having attended more than 30 new tracks across his coast-to-coast tour. Joined us this week on Open Red’s Show by talking about his career progression and relationship with crew members.

Professional Career

After honing his motorsports skills in Micro Sprint and Midget racing, Gass made his World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink 410 Sprint Car Series debut this season at Creek County Speedway near his hometown in Mounds, Oklahoma. Competing weekly under crew chief Cody Cordell and car chief Robby McQuinn’s guidance, their performances steadily improved throughout this inaugural campaign.

Gass secured 12th place in the Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year race, collecting two Heat Race Wins, four KSE Hard Charger Awards and two Mini-Lite Last Chance Showdowns along the way. Driving his Arrowhead Electric, Food Safety Group, DMI Inc and Big G Transport-sponsored No. 20G race car, Gass hopes to build upon his sophomore campaign with The Greatest Show on Dirt in 2023.

Noah Gass joins Open Red this week to share his experience on the World of Outlaws tour and what it takes to compete with some of the top drivers in motorsport.

Achievement and Honors

Gass, in his inaugural World of Outlaws season, started 32 of 69 Features and showed consistent improvement throughout a demanding coast-to-coast schedule. As an Oklahoma native he claimed his first-career NOS Energy Drink Heat Race win at Jackson Motorplex while collecting four KSE Hard Charger Awards – as a graduate from both Micro Sprint and Midget ranks, 2022 rookie Gass was introduced to 30 new race tracks as he worked towards joining The Greatest Show on Dirt in 2023 full time.

Mounds, Oklahoma native Alex Bowman will pilot his family-owned Arrowhead Electric, Big G Transport, High Performance Lubricants and Maxim/Kistler #20G across nearly 90 races for 2018. In doing so, he will compete against Kasey Kahne and Spencer Bayston for Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year honors as he vies to win back-to-back series championships.

Personal Life

Individuals’ personal lives are usually the private realms of their existence. This encompasses relationships, beliefs, interests and activities which don’t revolve around professional or public roles or identities.

Noah Gass’ decision to compete full time in the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series for 2022 proved surprising to many observers; yet Oklahoma native and team proved all doubters wrong as Gass started 32 of 69 Features while steadily improving during his rookie campaign. Looking forward, Gass hopes to continue his progression during his sophomore tour year while competing against former NASCAR champion Kasey Kahne and Spencer Bayston for Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year honors.
