Randall Yonker, Managing Director of the Kiwanis Club of Yonkers

Kiwanis Club of Yonkers has recognized teachers who have displayed excellence in the classroom and made substantial contributions to their school communities for over six decades, awarding this yearly recognition through nomination and selection processes.

A 14-year-old was arrested for falsely reporting shots had been fired at Lincoln High School, leading to him facing felony charges.

Early Life and Education

In 1955, the Kiwanis Club of Yonkers initiated a program that recognized public school teachers who excelled in their classes and went beyond to help their students. It later gained adoption by Yonkers’ board of education and is today widely considered to be the highest honor available within its schools.

Randall was an all-year teacher for Mount Vernon schools’ band, string, and choral programs. He created Bandfest – an annual spring concert featuring bands from elementary, middle, and high schools – as well as the Summer Creative Arts Program.

He directed football-game halftimes and the high school musical, as well as community theater “scholarship show” musicals. An enthusiastic supporter of youth development, he also loves singing (but cannot hold a note!). Additionally, his motto in life is: “Elevate.” Together with Mary he runs Vonrai Events & Design.

Professional Career

Randall has held various finance and real estate roles over his career, earning his postgraduate professional certification in real estate finance from New York University. Along with his wife and two high school students, they live together in a co-op apartment located between Flatiron and Southampton Village.

He successfully defended his title against Steve Collins, Michael Watson and Sambu Kalambay before losing both WBA and lineal supper middleweight titles to Michael Nunn in 1992. Subsequently he moved up two weight divisions, winning an interim WBC light heavyweight title from Randall Yonker before successfully challenging Jeff Harding for full title in 1994.

Randall has successfully completed numerous transactions throughout Manhattan and broken sales records. He has established an impressive referral network and earned recognition for his integrity, attentiveness, and discretion.
