Cruz Pedregon and John Force were Cruz Pedregon and John Force’s elder siblings respectively, but Cruz started out his professional racing career in Top Alcohol Dragster before eventually switching over to the National Hot Rod Association competition with an on-off McDonald’s-sponsored dragster as a part-time driver in 1991.

He first entered a Funny Car in 1995, joining John Force Racing as driver for their second car in 1997. Three years later he won his first NHRA Full Throttle world championship before starting his own team and winning another in 2007.

Achievement and Honors

Pedregon won his inaugural NHRA world title in 2003 and currently boasts 43 career wins with four Wally awards to his name.

His best season was 1994, when he won 15 races to set an industry record and defeat John Force in one final round of competition for an entire year.

Video footage that has since gone viral shows Pedregon’s 8,000 horsepower dragster exploding before a spectator-filled audience before landing with an explosive bang at full speed on track before eventually coming to an abrupt and fiery stop at its center, seemingly leaving no injuries behind for him to endure. He emerged unscathed.

Pedregon began his racing career with California potato farmer Larry Minor driving Top Fuel dragsters and Funny Cars before later joining John Force’s 16-time world championship team where he won two championships himself.

Personal Life

Tony Pedregon is a two-time NHRA Mello Yello Series Funny Car champion and current NHRA on FOX broadcaster with an avid passion for golf and cars alike. His son Dezi recently attended Radford Racing School to gain Formula 4 experience, and his innate car control abilities are showing great promise.

Pedregon, who is married to Andrea and operates an auto dealership in Torrance, Calif. He is also the son of drag racing legend Flamin’ Frank Pedregon.

Pedregon acknowledges that some race fans believe he will use harsh language as an analyst, yet maintains that he is capable of controlling his responses – although his well-publicized clash with John Force may have been an exception.
